How to Measure and Price Your Windows and Doors

Window frames are available in standard (30 mm) or large outer (50 mm) frame.



For measuring windows fixed to exterior skin, measure windows inside and out:

Measuring Width

Example A
Equal Width Inside & Out

Take width measurement and deduct 10mm e.g. 1200 - 10
Frame width required = 1190 mm
Example B
Wider Outside Width, Smaller Inside

Take outside measurement and deduct inside measurement, eg 1260 - 1200 = 60 mm
Larger outer required if over 40 mm difference
Frame Size required: 1260 - 10 mm = 1250 with large outer
Example C
Smaller Outside Width, Larger Inside

This window generally has wooden liners on inside.
Outside measurement 1200 - 10 mm = 1190 mm frame size


Measuring Height

Example A
Standard Height

Take outside measurement and deduct 10mm e.g. 1200 - 10
Frame size required = 1190 mm including outside cill @ 30 mm
Example B
High Internal Cill

Take outside measurement and deduct inside measurement, eg 1200 - 1150 = 50 mm
Larger outer required. If greater than 50 mm difference at bottom, add on will be required
Frame Size required: 1200 - 10 mm = 1190 mm including outside cill @ 30 mm with large outer
Example C
Low External Head

Outside measurement - Inside 1200 - 1120 = 80mm
As you are greater than 40 mm to head, use large outer frame plus additional 30 mm add on to head.
Frame Size = 1190 inc large outer and 30 mm add on to head

Prices shown include clear K glass as standard, obscure glass can be supplied, (see "Extra costs" below).

Matrix sizes under 2.7 m sq = £98 per sq m, 2.7 m sq and over = £88 per sq m. All prices are exclusive of VAT.
